The Civil War

The Civil War was when the South seceded from the Union, which made them the Confederacy.  The war was over slavery. The Confederacy didn’t want  slavery to end. They were scared that President Lincoln would end slavery, that’s what caused them to secede.   After the first gun shot on April 12, 1861 to the the battle of Fort Sumter  President Abraham Lincoln declared war. The war was over slavery. The Confederacy didn’t want  slavery to end. They were scared that President Lincoln would end slavery, that’s what caused them to secede. The Civil War means a lot to me and a lot to other people too. It’s brave how the soldiers went to fight in a war because what if they had children and a wife. The one thing I love most about a soldier is when they come home and people and myself shake their hand and thank them.
